Thanks fo your interest in being an author in our True Romance Kickstarter Anthology. We're have a limited time open call for submissions! Read on to learn more about how these Kickstarters work, what we need from you, and how selection works.
Even if you have been invited by myself or Vincent Zandri, the two editors on the project, you must fill out this form. Just because you have been invited does not mean your story is accepted. We'll be leeting people know by December 15th if your story has been accepted.
Here is how these Kickstarters work, and what we need from you.
First we started with True Pulp, a Kickstarter designed to create a new era of pulp fiction, but with a legacy. We blew past our $1000 goal and raised nearly $2500, including orders for special edition books signed by the entire slate of authors.
But we didn't want to stop there. The beauty of these Kickstarters is that authors get paid a percentage of the money we raise as a payment in advance, before the anthology releases to the public.
Secondly, authors get author copies, and in some cases get to be featured next to some really great names in the industry. As these are organized by myself (Troy Lambert) and Vincent Zandri, our focus is on the kind of fiction we create - neo-noir and new pulp in the dark mystery, thriller, suspense genres. There is even some horror involved and some paranormal elements from time to time.
So that's what we're looking for here. Romance, but with dark, noir or pulp elements. There are some rules though, simply because of the name of the anthology, and the genre we are featuring. Because as many of you know, romance is one of the only genres with really strict rules and voracious readers who like to enforce them. We can bend those a bit here, but only a little. So what do stories need?
Those are really the only requirements. We do have some requests, though.
We really look forward to reading your story, and working with you. Please let us know if you have any questions.
